How Much Does It Cost to Redesign a Website?
Last updated . Outside prices were checked October 1, 2026, and DeskTeam360's prices September 25, 2026.
This site is run by DeskTeam360, which offers a flat monthly team as one way to pay for a redesign.
A website redesign costs the hours it takes times the hourly rate, plus extras like content, images and licenses. For reference, design agencies on Clutch mostly charge $25 to $49 an hour, and most web development firms in a GoodFirms survey bill $50 to $100 an hour. Redesign quotes can differ a lot, because each redesign has a different scope, providers charge different rates, and quotes include different things. A flat monthly team prices it another way: DeskTeam360's plans start at $1,497 a month, and redesigns are part of the web work they cover.
How much does it cost to redesign a website?
It costs what the work takes: hours times rate, plus extras. As an example of the math, at the Clutch rates below every 10 hours of work costs $250 to $490, and at the GoodFirms rates it costs $500 to $1,000. That's an example per 10 hours, not a redesign price. These published figures are useful reference points. They're for new sites and hourly work in general, not redesign prices.
| Reference point | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly rate, design agencies on Clutch | Mostly $25 to $49 an hour | Clutch |
| Hourly rate, web development firms | Most (57%) bill $50 to $100 an hour | GoodFirms survey |
| Web design project size on Clutch | Most projects under $10,000 | Clutch |
| A new basic professional website | About $1,000 to $3,000 | GoodFirms survey of 300+ web firms, 2026 |
| Professional website design | $1,500 and up | Forbes Advisor, 2026 |
Why redesign quotes can differ so much:
- Scope. One quote covers a new look for five pages. Another covers new templates, a store and moved content.
- Rate. The rates above already span a wide range.
- What's included. Some quotes include content, images, redirects and testing. Others bill them as extras.
- How changes are billed. Some include rounds of changes. Others charge for each one.
For what a brand-new site costs to build, see website design cost.
How do you estimate what a redesign will cost?
Estimate the hours for each part, multiply by the rate, then add the extras. Use this worksheet with a provider, or to check a quote you already have:
| Part of the redesign | Hours (estimate) | Rate per hour | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planning and page list | |||
| Design of each template | |||
| Building each template | |||
| Moving and checking content | |||
| Redirects and SEO checks | |||
| Testing on phones and browsers | |||
| Launch and fixes | |||
| Subtotal | |||
| Extras (see next section) | |||
| Total |
- Ask each provider to fill in the same worksheet for the same written scope.
- Compare the hours line by line. Big gaps show where they read the scope differently.
- Ask how changes are billed after the first round.
- Check what's left out, then add it to the extras line.

What hidden costs come with a website redesign?
The costs that aren't in the design quote: new content, images, software, redirects, testing, and lost traffic if SEO is skipped.
- Content. New or rewritten page copy. DeskTeam360, for one, doesn't write sales copy, so plan for a writer.
- Photos and graphics. New photos, stock licenses or custom graphics.
- Plugins, themes and licenses. Paid themes, plugins, fonts and apps, often billed yearly.
- Redirect work. Mapping every changed address to its new page. See website redesign SEO.
- Testing. Phones, browsers, forms and checkout.
- Lost traffic. If SEO is skipped, rankings can drop, and that costs leads.
- Your own time. Feedback rounds, approvals and content gathering.
Does a redesign cost less than a rebuild?
Usually, when the site's structure and platform still work. A redesign keeps what works and changes the look and some pages. A rebuild starts over on the platform, the code, or both.
Choose a redesign when:
- The platform still does what you need.
- Most page addresses and content can stay.
- The problem is mostly how the site looks or reads.
Choose a rebuild when:
- The platform can't do what you need, such as a store or members' area.
- The code is hard to change, or no one can safely update it.
- You'd replace most pages anyway.
For what a redesign involves and when to do one, see website redesign.
Per project, hourly, or flat monthly: which costs less over a year?
It depends on how much web work you have. For a single redesign, per project pricing ties the cost to one job. For a steady flow of redesigns, fixes and updates, a flat monthly price covers all of it. Outside web help is usually priced one of three ways: a fixed price per project, by the hour, or a dedicated team. A flat monthly rate is a fourth way.
| Per project | Hourly | Flat monthly (DeskTeam360) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it's billed | One price for one defined job | Hours worked times the rate | A set price each month |
| Published numbers | Most web design projects on Clutch are under $10,000 | Clutch design agencies mostly charge $25 to $49 an hour; most web development firms in a GoodFirms survey bill $50 to $100 | $1,497, $2,994 or $4,491 a month, for 1, 2 or 3 tasks at a time |
| A year | Each project priced on its own | Hours used times the rate | $17,964, $35,928 or $53,892 |
| What's covered | The one job in the scope | Whatever the hours cover | Redesigns plus other web work, maintenance included |
| Changes | Ask how they're billed | Billed as more hours | Unlimited revisions on every plan |
| Commitment | The project | The hours | Month to month |
